40% Vermentino, 40% Falanghina, 20% Trebbiano. It’s like waking up and discovering you’re in somewhere like Liguria, Italy. Ocean influence, bright citrus, white peach, wild herbs, and salty minerality. No oak was harmed in the making of this wine.
Giornata Winery is a boutique winery in Paso Robles dedicated to crafting authentic Italian varietal wines with a California expression. Founded by husband-and-wife team Brian and Stephanie Terrizzi, Giornata was born from a shared passion for Italian wine culture, sustainable farming, and minimal-intervention winemaking. Inspired by travels throughout Italy and Brian’s Sicilian heritage, the winery focuses on grapes such as Nebbiolo, Aglianico, Barbera, Fiano, and Vermentino—varieties rarely seen in California when the winery first began.
The name “Giornata,” an Italian art term meaning “a day’s work,” reflects the Terrizzis’ philosophy of craftsmanship, patience, and dedication. Located in Paso Robles’ Tin City district, the winery has become known for producing balanced, terroir-driven wines that honor traditional Italian techniques while embracing the Central Coast’s unique climate and soils. Giornata is especially recognized for its acclaimed Nebbiolo program and use of clay amphora fermentation, an ancient Italian winemaking method that highlights purity and texture in the wines.
Today, Giornata is widely respected as a pioneer of Italian varietals in Paso Robles and has earned praise from wine critics and enthusiasts alike for its elegant, food-friendly wines and innovative approach to California winemaking.
