An orange, skin-contact wine from Santa Ynez Valley, 75% Grenache Blanc, 20% Riesling, and 5% Sémillon. Organically grown, unfiltered and unfined, bright citrus peel, apricot, tangerine, and stone fruit, lively acidity, elegantly dry, and slightly nutty.
Fallen Grape Winery’s “Mother” Skin Contact White—It’s called “skin contact” because who’s got time to explain “orange” to a table of brunch drinkers? Made from Grenache Blanc, Riesling, and Semillon that spend extended time fermenting on their skins (like red wines do), “Mother” picks up a rich amber hue and a whole lot of texture. Think dried apricot, orange peel, chamomile tea, and a whisper of ginger—all wrapped in a slightly tannic, pleasantly grippy structure that makes it a great partner for everything from roast chicken to philosophical arguments.
Fallen Grape Winery takes a low-intervention, high-curiosity approach to winemaking. “Mother” is one of their proudest, most expressive bottlings. It's unfined, unfiltered, and comes with no excuses or regrets. It’s fermented with native yeasts—basically raised without a curfew. This is a wine that’s not afraid to be itself, and it’s definitely not here to please everyone. But if you're open to something wild, textural, and just a little bit rebellious in a way that makes you think, “Mother” will take good care of you.
