Dense, ripe and plush, lifted by fresh acidity. A deep purple hue leads to rich, coating fruit with peppery snap and Grenache liqueur notes. Garrigue, dried herbs and silky, fine tannins add complexity and seamless drinkability even at release.
Founded in 1990 by Tom and Marilyn Stolpman on the limestone-rich hills of Ballard Canyon AVA in Santa Barbara County, Stolpman Vineyards is a family-owned estate dedicated to sustainable, site-focused viticulture and minimal-intervention winemaking. The estate dry-farms vines on porous limestone soils, uses native yeasts, and emphasizes a vineyard-first philosophy to craft wines that reflect terroir, climate, and micro-lot character.
Since 2017, head winemaker Kyle Knapp has guided the cellar, working closely with veteran vineyard manager Ruben Solorzano to manage harvests block-by-block and employ gentle extraction techniques that preserve freshness and expression. Stolpman produces Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Roussanne, and other Rhône-style varietals, as well as experimental wines, all demonstrating balance, elegance, and a strong sense of place. Committed to both land and community, the estate honors its vineyard crew while crafting wines that exemplify the depth, authenticity, and distinction of Ballard Canyon.
