True to Grenache yet lighter on its feet—more ethereal, almost Pinot-like—it’s a far cry from the bolder European styles, with tannins and alcohol kept well in check.
n 2021, Folk Machine lucked into Grenache from four exceptional sites—no real plan, just an easy “yes.” While portions found their way into other wines, blending all four proved effortless, yielding a wine both balanced and irresistibly drinkable.
Having made a name for himself with his critically acclaimed Cabernets and Zinfandels under his Hobo Wine Company label, Kenny Likitprakong created Folk Machine Wines as a home for his Pinot Noirs and other wines from some of California’s more esoteric grapes. A former surf bum, Kenny spent his twenties drinking cheap Bordeaux and sleeping on beaches. He doesn't own vineyards, instead sourcing grapes from 40 different vineyards along the Northern California coast, from Santa Cruz to Mendocino. The Folk Machine wines are approachable and balanced. He plants and tends thousands of vines on 18 leased acres in Santa Cruz and Sonoma, with meticulous oversight on agricultural quality control.
