Named after the French word tendu, meaning tense or taut, Tendu celebrates bright acidity, freshness, and balance. Created in 2012 by acclaimed Napa Valley winemaker Steve Matthiasson and wine importer Matthew Plympton of Revel Wine, the label was inspired by the easy-drinking liter bottles found throughout Europe—honest, affordable wines made for sharing around the table.

Sourced from thoughtfully farmed vineyards across Northern California, Tendu focuses on vibrant, food-friendly wines with moderate alcohol and minimal intervention. Crafted from Mediterranean varieties that thrive in California's warm climate, the wines are fresh, expressive, and designed for everyday enjoyment rather than collecting.

For Steve Matthiasson, great wine begins with great farming. A pioneer of sustainable viticulture, Steve and his wife, Jill, founded Matthiasson Wines in 2003, building a reputation for balanced, site-driven wines and championing lesser-known Italian and Mediterranean grape varieties in Napa Valley. His work has earned him recognition as Food & Wine's Winemaker of the Year and the San Francisco Chronicle's Winemaker of the Year.
