This wine is 58% Syrah, 26% Mourvedre & 16% Grenache from Ibarra-Young, Alisos, Vineyards and Purisima Mountain Vineyards, all located near Los Olivos. The reason the title is so specific is that there is serious discussion about a new “Los Olivos” AVA. The basis of this wine has always been the Syrah and Mourvèdre from Ibarra-Young, a vineyard that Qupe has leased and farmed exclusively since 1986. Since 1999, Ibarra-Young has been farmed organically. This wine is loaded with white pepper and earthern nuance, along with subtle blueberry notes. Bob Lindquist, Qupe's owner and winemaker is a local legend, and this is an excellent effort from him. |
